Job summary

Mott MacDonald in Auckland is seeking a Senior ICT Engineer to lead ICT design for buildings and infrastructure. You will collaborate across disciplines to deliver digital backbone solutions and drive innovative designs for local and international projects.

You will mentor junior engineers, apply BIM and industry standards, ensure high-quality reports and specs, and engage clients to understand needs. A degree in engineering and 5+ years ICT experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified engineer with 5+ years’ ICT design experience for buildings/infrastructure.
• Familiarity with BIM tools and industry standards.
• Certifications: RCDD, PSP, CCNA, CCNP are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead ICT design and delivery across multi-disciplinary projects.
• Engage with clients and end users to co-create solutions.
• Produce high-quality specifications, reports, schematics and solution briefs.
• Design and manage systems including: Structured Cabling & Telecoms Distribution; Data Networks & Wireless LAN; CCTV, Access Control & Surveillance; Audio-Visual & Public Address Systems; Control Systems – BMS, SCADA; Information & Cyber Security.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence.

We’re excited to welcome a Senior ICT Engineer to our dynamic Building Services team in Auckland. This is more than a role—it’s a chance to lead, innovate, and make a meaningful difference across local and international projects.

You’ll work on a diverse portfolio of buildings and infrastructure, from boutique developments to large-scale transformations. You’ll collaborate with passionate professionals across disciplines, contribute to cutting-edge designs, and help shape the digital backbone of the built environment.

What You’ll Do

• Lead ICT design and delivery across multi-disciplinary projects
• Engage with clients and end users to understand needs and co-create solutions
• Produce high-quality specifications, reports, schematics, and solution briefs

About You

You’re a degree-qualified engineer (Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, or Telecommunications) with 5+ years’ experience in ICT design for buildings and infrastructure. You bring curiosity, care, and a commitment to quality—and you’re ready to grow in a supportive, values-led environment.

You’ll thrive if you have:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience working independently and guiding others
• Familiarity with BIM tools and industry standards
• A collaborative mindset and stakeholder management skills
• Certifications (RCDD, PSP, CCNA, CCNP)
• Memberships (BISCI, IEEE, CIBSE, Eng. NZ)
• Experience in radio systems or transport sector projects
