7-8 Months Contract Opportunity in the Waikato! | Flexible Work Arrangements & Work Remotely 1 maybe 2 Days per week! | Attractive Hourly Rate OR Salary whichever you prefer! | START ASAP!

One of our favourite clients in the Waikato with an outstanding Head of People & Capability needs an experienced Senior HR Advisor, on a contract basis, to provide generalist HR and employment relations support while the business has some change underway.

This is an opportunity to join a purpose-led organisation with a strong community focus, a genuine commitment to its people and an Executive Leadership Team leading positive change.

Working alongside the Head of People & Capability, P&C team and senior leaders, you will provide best practice HR and ER expertise to support people leaders with a focus on the BAU while others in the P&C team are supporting the implementation of the new organisational design.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on contract role for an experienced HR professional who understands the complexities of change and its impact on people; and can quickly provide trusted advice and practical support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partner with leaders to provide people advice, progress agreed actions and deliver outcomes, escalating complex or higher risk matters early.

  • Design, plan, coordinate and deliver agreed P&C Team work programmes, projects and operational improvements.

  • Clarify people responsibilities, decision rights and escalation pathways in line with polices, delegations and good employee obligations.

  • Act as a trusted connector across the P&C Team, drawing in L&D, H&S and People Insights where specialist input is needed.

  • Lift baseline practice by improving process discipline, compliance, documentation quality, data accuracy and consistent ways of working.

  • Partner with leaders to navigate employment lifecycle activity.

  • Work with Recruitment and the P&C Coordinator to progress recruitment, appointment, redeployment, change, records, approvals, payroll handovers and HRIS actions.

  • Partner with leaders to manage routine ER matters through early advice and practical guidance, guiding informal resolutions, performance improvement, and maintain clear records, escalating complex, sensitive or higher risk matters.

About You

You are an experienced HR practitioner with sound employment relations knowledge and practical experience supporting leaders through organisational change.

Most importantly, you will bring a sense of humour and a warm empathetic, friendly personality; and you relish the opportunity of working within a P&C team that genuinely enjoys working together!

In addition, you will bring:

  • Strong knowledge of NZ employment legislation and good faith obligations.

  • Experience working within a unionised environment ideally but this is not essential.

  • Good written communication skills and confidence drafting formal employment documentation.

  • Strong judgement, credibility and the ability to coach leaders through sensitive situations.

  • The ability to work at pace while maintaining attention to detail and process integrity.
