Job summary

HEB Construction is seeking a Senior GIS Analyst to join the Digital Team in New Zealand. You will develop and maintain GIS applications, manage spatial data, and deliver analyses to support major infrastructure projects across the country.

Based in Auckland or Wellington, you will collaborate with project teams and clients, with 2–3 days per month travel required to sites. The role focuses on digital transformation, GIS integrations, and capability development, offering flexible location

Qualifications

• Senior GIS or geospatial role experience is required.
• Strong proficiency with Esri ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
• Experience with data integration or workflow automation (e.g., FME, Python) is preferred.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with clients and partners.
• Ability to translate complex spatial data into actionable insights.

THE OPPORTUNITY

In this role, you'll help drive HEB's digital transformation by developing innovative GIS solutions that support the delivery of some of New Zealand's most significant infrastructure projects. Working closely with project teams, clients and external partners, you'll turn complex spatial data into meaningful insights that improve decision-making and project outcomes.

As a trusted advisor, you'll play an important role in building strong stakeholder relationships and helping grow GIS capability across the business. Based in Auckland or Wellington, you'll also visit projects across New Zealand approximately 2-3 days per month to support our teams on the ground.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

As a Senior GIS Analyst, you'll be responsible for developing and maintaining GIS applications, managing spatial data, delivering analysis and insights, and supporting digital infrastructure and digitisation initiatives across the business. You'll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand challenges and deliver practical geospatial solutions that create real value.

You'll also support GIS integrations, champion best practice, contribute to capability development, and help ensure HEB remains at the forefront of digital innovation within the infrastructure sector.

KEY SKILLS

While we provide a variety of training and advancement opportunities for all our people, to succeed in this role you will have:

• Proven experience in a senior GIS or geospatial role
• Strong capability across the Esri ArcGIS suite, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
• Experience with FME, Python, data integration or workflow automation
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including working with clients and external partners
• Strong problem-solving and analytical capability
• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences and manage competing priorities
