Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geneticist to lead a multidisciplinary genetics research program in Queenstown. You will design experiments, analyze complex genomic data, and advance gene-editing strategies toward translational applications.

The role emphasizes mentorship, collaboration, and disseminating findings through high-impact publications while driving innovative genetic therapies in a rigorous scientific environment.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field with a strong focus on genetics.
  • Minimum of 6 years of post-doctoral or relevant industry research experience in human or model organism genetics.
  • Proven expertise in genomic analysis techniques, including sequencing data analysis (WGS, WES) and variant interpretation.
  • Hands-on experience with molecular genetics techniques such as PCR, cloning, and gene expression analysis.
  • Familiarity with genetic databases and bioinformatics tools relevant to genetic research.
  • Excellent scientific communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct experiments investigating gene function, regulation, and variation.
  • Analyze and interpret large-scale genomic data using advanced computational tools.
  • Develop and apply gene-editing technologies (e.g., CRISPR) for research purposes.
  • Collaborate with other research groups to integrate genetic findings into broader biological contexts.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in high-impact journals and present research findings at scientific meetings.
  • Mentor junior researchers and contribute to the strategic direction of the genetics research program.
