Job summary

Optimal is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join a cross-functional team delivering next‑gen user research tools. You’ll own features end‑to‑end—from ideation to delivery—with product and design, shaping architecture and UI behavior across React, Rails and AWS.

This remote‑first role can be based anywhere in New Zealand or Australia, with Wellington HQ as a reference point. You’ll mentor teammates, raise the craft bar, and move fast by shipping real user‑facing improvements guided by usage.

Qualifications

• Senior engineer with hands-on experience delivering product features end-to-end.
• Ability to own architecture decisions and mentor teammates.
• Strong frontend skills (React) with solid backend delivery on Rails/AWS.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects end-to-end from idea through delivery.
• Collaborate with product and design to shape scope and UX.
• Build and ship new research features that simplify complex tasks.
