Porirua City Council is looking for a Monitoring and Enforcement Officer to support compliance with resource consents and legislation across the city. You will use judgement, communication and a practical approach to contribute to positive environmental and community outcomes.

The role involves site inspections, investigations, reporting and providing practical guidance under the Resource Management Act, with opportunities for senior responsibilities for planning experience and mentoring team

Formación

• Experience in monitoring, enforcement, compliance, regulatory, or investigative work.
• Knowledge of the Resource Management Act and related legislation or ability to quickly learn this framework.
• Strong judgement to assess situations and respond appropriately.
• Excellent communication skills with a wide range of people.
• Collaborative approach and willingness to learn and develop in this field.
• Full, unrestricted New Zealand driver licence.

Responsabilidades

• Monitor compliance with resource consent conditions through site inspections, investigations and reporting.
• Provide practical advice under the Resource Management Act and related legislation.
• Respond to complaints, gather evidence, and support enforcement actions when required.
• Work with builders, developers, landowners, and stakeholders to improve compliance and outcomes.
• Balance education, guidance and enforcement tools as appropriate.
• Collaborate with colleagues, external agencies and the community to resolve issues practically.
• Continue building knowledge in a supportive team environment.
