Job summary

Waipa District Council is seeking a proactive Compliance Monitoring Officer to join their Enforcement team in New Zealand. You will monitor resource consents, identify compliance issues and help ensure activities meet regulatory requirements.

You will advise on complex cases and engage consent holders and the community to achieve practical outcomes. The role requires a tertiary qualification or equivalent training, a NZ driver licence, and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach.

Qualifications

• At least three years’ experience in compliance, regulatory, enforcement, environmental monitoring, planning or a related field.
• Confidence interpreting legislation, assessing compliance and conducting inspections or investigations.
• Strong analytical, report-writing and communication skills.
• Collaborative, solutions-focused approach and ability to manage challenging conversations.
• New Zealand driver licence required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor resource consents and identify compliance issues, and resolve them.
• Provide sound technical advice on complex compliance matters.
• Engage with consent holders and the wider community to achieve practical outcomes.
• Work with the Enforcement team to ensure activities meet regulatory requirements.
