Senior Enterprise Information Security Advisor

At the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), we provide cyber security services to all New Zealanders. Our vision is a New Zealand where good cyber security happens, everywhere, all the time, by everyone.

The Enterprise Information Security Group (EISG),a partoftheNCSC, helps protect some of New Zealand's most unique and sensitive information assets. Delivering information security strategy, programme and services to the GCSB and NZSIS (the enterprise), we work to ensure information security enables mission outcomes.

About the role

You will drive continuous improvement of information security initiatives across the GCSB and NZSIS, ensuring risks are understood, communicated and managed effectively to support mission outcomes.

You will provide trusted advice through partnership with business, security and technology stakeholders to embed information security into enterprise activities, and support informed decision-making aligned to our strategic and regulatory landscape.

How you will make an impact

  • Lead complex engagements:Lead risk assessment and advisory engagements,providingtrusted advice that builds stakeholder confidence and enables effective decision-making.
  • Partner with stakeholders:Partner with business and technology teams to improve security maturity and enable safe adoption ofnew technologiesand services.
  • Integrate &scale:Support integration,automationand continuous assurance initiatives to improve and scale our information security services.
  • Build alliances:Collaborate with other areas of the NCSC and international partners to share insights and strengthen collective outcomes.

About you

You may come from an information security or cyber background, or you may have built your expertise in risk management, technology delivery, or business analysis.

What matters most is your ability to understand and communicate complex problems, design practical and effective solutions, and build trusted relationships to influence effectively both up and across the enterprise.

The appointing salary range for this role is $120,359 - $128,383.

Before you apply

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.

You must:

  • Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years

OR

Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years

  • Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
    • Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.

Salary Band I $120,358 (90%) - $153,791 (115%)
Midpoint of the salary range (100%) reflects full competence in the role
