Job summary

Babbage in Auckland is seeking two Senior Infrastructure Engineers in the Water discipline to design, deliver, and manage drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater projects. You will lead from concept to construction, review designs and models, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with councils and clients while ensuring safety, regulatory and environmental standards.

Minimum 5 years of water experience or a relevant degree; strong technical and communication skills; chartered pathway

Job Description

This role designs and delivers water infrastructure, including drinking water, wastewater and stormwater systems. The engineer assesses network needs, develops technical designs, prepares reports and ensures projects meet safety, environmental and regulatory standards. Assist in managing projects from early planning to construction, working closely with councils, contractors and other engineering teams. The role ensures water systems are safe, reliable and sustainable for communities across New Zealand.

• 2 x positions open for Senior Infrastructure Engineers in the Water discipline based in Auckland
• Full‑Time Permanent role - 40 hours per week
• Salary range between $100,000- $120,000 plus company benefits

Your Role

As a senior member of our water infrastructure team, you’ll bring deep technical expertise and a proven ability to manage and deliver complex projects such as Three Waters. Key will be your hands‑on experience in the design, planning, and delivery of water, wastewater, and stormwater systems, working across public and private sector clients.

You’ll also:

• Lead and deliver projects from concept (preparing briefs and fee estimates) to construction
• Develop and review technical designs, reports and models
• Construction management and contract administration
• Collaborate closely with clients, councils, and multidisciplinary teams
• Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior engineers
• Act as a trusted advisor and contribute to strategic decision‑making
• Ensure projects meet regulatory standards and sustainability objectives

Requirements:
