Job summary

Workday in New Zealand is seeking a Senior Distributed Systems (DevOps) engineer to join our cloud platform team. You will build and automate infrastructure across AWS and GCP, maintain CI/CD pipelines, and optimize performance for millions of users.

You will collaborate with our Platform Engineering team to deploy changes, reinforce security, and drive reliability using IaC, monitoring, and automation. Our Flex Work approach combines in-person and remote time to fit your schedule.

Qualifications

7+ years DevOps experience in large-scale systems.
5+ years database administration experience (Postgres, MariaDB, MSSQL)
4+ years experience orchestrating large scale distributed microservice deployments on Kubernetes and EC2.
4+ years experience building and managing EKS clusters and strong knowledge of the K8s ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Design infrastructure and automated systems to support our distributed architecture.
Build and manage CI/CD pipelines and improve their reliability and speed.
Trace performance bottlenecks and identify optimizations at infra and app levels.
Collaborate with engineering to meet high SLO/SLA requirements.
Maintain highly available web and backend systems serving millions of users.
Configure cloud services on AWS for new feature development.
Secure our infrastructure at cloud and app layers.
Expand monitoring and alerting with internal and third-party tools.
Establish infrastructure-as-code coverage for the platform.
Develop tools to enhance Developer Productivity.
Champion automation of manual processes and reduce operational overhead.
