Job summary

PwC is seeking a senior associate to lead data engagements in Auckland, shaping delivery of scalable data platforms across Azure, Fabric, Databricks and Snowflake. You will guide teams, manage stakeholders and drive measurable business value through data solutions.

You will combine technical depth with commercial insight, delivering across the full lifecycle from discovery to deployment and optimisation. A blended, client-facing leadership role in a growing data team.

Qualifications

• 6+ years' experience in Data Engineering, Data & Analytics, Technology Consulting or a related field.
• Strong consulting, commercial and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and translate business needs into practical technology outcomes.
• Demonstrated experience leading delivery teams, including delegating work, setting expectations, providing feedback, coaching others and taking accountability for collective outcomes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to guide teams through unfamiliar datasets and communicate insights clearly.
• Experience leading or playing a significant role in enterprise transformation, cloud modernisation or data platform initiatives in complex environments.
• Hands-on understanding of modern data solutions using Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake or similar platforms.
• Strong foundations in data engineering, analytics and modern data architectures (ETL/ELT, data modelling, APIs/integration, cloud-native, lakehouse).
• Strong understanding of data governance, data management and data quality practices, with exposure to governance and metadata management tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead client engagements and workstreams, clarifying requirements and shaping delivery approaches.
• Own data platform and pipeline design and delivery across Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks and Snowflake.
• Provide technical direction and quality oversight across ETL/ELT, SQL, Python and Spark solutions.
• Champion AI-enabled tools to accelerate analysis, coding, testing and documentation.
• Oversee complex data analysis and communicate insights and opportunities to senior stakeholders.
• Lead data architecture, solution design, technical specifications and delivery planning.
• Advise clients on enterprise data governance and metadata management practices.
• Facilitate workshops and influence senior stakeholders to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
