Job summary

Pearson Carter is partnering with a major public sector organisation to strengthen its data engineering capability on a Microsoft Fabric platform. The role combines hands-on data engineering with technical leadership to deliver production-ready data products across Fabric, OneLake, Lakehouses and Purview governance.

The candidate will lead ingestion patterns, ETL/ELT development, and ensure robust data governance while collaborating with architects and stakeholders in a hybrid NZ environment.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience.
• Experience with OneLake, Lakehouse, Dataflows Gen2 and Fabric Pipelines.
• Proficient in PySpark, Python, T-SQL and Delta Lake.
• Experience with Medallion Architecture and dimensional modelling.
• Microsoft Purview experience; governance and data lineage
• Experience in enterprise or public sector data environments; Matillion is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver production-grade data products.
• Implement Medallion Architecture across Fabric and OneLake.
• Build scalable pipelines using Fabric Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines and PySpark.
• Develop ingestion and ETL/ELT frameworks.
• Support data lineage, metadata, security, and governance through Purview.
• Validate Fabric capacity, workspace configuration, and platform readiness.
• Work closely with architects and technical stakeholders.
