Job summary

Woolworths Group New Zealand is seeking a Senior Data/AI/ML Engineer to design, deploy, and manage multi-agent AI ecosystems and robust data architectures in Auckland. The role focuses on turning business challenges into trusted data solutions with strong governance and cost-aware cloud implementations.

You will mentor teammates, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help scale our data capabilities using advanced AI technologies and modern MLOps practices.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with GenAI production frameworks and agentic coding tools.
• Experience building end-to-end data pipelines on cloud platforms (BigQuery, Vertex AI, DBT, Airflow).
• Knowledge of Python and modern development tools; hands-on with MLOps practices.
• Strong grounding in data warehousing methodologies (Kimball) and software engineering fundamentals.
• Proven track record delivering complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives in agile environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage multi-agent ecosystems and autonomous coding agents.
• Build clean, structured data architectures and cloud warehousing for AI agents and LLMs.
• Deploy automated agentic testing frameworks and ensure data quality and performance.
• Establish AI governance and observability to monitor drift, bias, and hallucinations.
• Implement security guardrails and responsible AI practices to protect data and ensure auditability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor juniors, and conduct peer reviews.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and optimize cloud costs.
