Datacom in New Zealand is seeking Senior/Tech Lead AI Engineers to join our Digital Engineering AI team, delivering innovative AI-driven software solutions and collaborating across cross-functional teams on cutting-edge projects.

You will work with models, retrieval/embeddings, tool calling, and ensure robust AI systems, with a strong software background and a passion for AI. Hybrid work and NZ/Australia impact await.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional development experience, preferably Python/TypeScript.
• Delivery of at least one generative-AI app on Azure OpenAI/MMicrosoft Foundry/Amazon Bedrock or equivalent.
• Experience managing context and integrating models with data and tools.
• Ability to diagnose failures, handle API limits/timeouts, verify AI outputs and workflows.
• Strong communication to translate customer needs into working AI solutions.
