Job summary

Deloitte New Zealand’s Tax team in Tauranga is seeking a Senior Consultant to join our growing practice. You will advise a portfolio of clients on corporate tax matters, from compliance to planning, and help drive high-quality outcomes for SMEs and corporate clients.

You will contribute to and manage client work, develop your technical and leadership skills, and collaborate with a diverse team dedicated to making a positive impact for clients and colleagues alike.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years experience in a professional services or corporate tax environment.
• A professional qualification in law or accounting.
• A strong understanding of end to end tax processes & the NZ tax environment.
• Experience in any specialist areas of tax would be beneficial (but not essential).
• Excellent team player and proven organisational and communications skills.
• Results focused & client oriented. A drive to develop people and grow their career.

Responsibilities

• Contributing to and/or managing a portfolio of clients ranging in size and covering a broad range of corporate tax issues.
• Demonstrating and developing capabilities in tax advisory, compliance, planning, and risk management.
• Influencing clients and the team positively, leading by example and building relationships with senior stakeholders.
• Applying knowledge of current and pending tax legislation and interaction with global tax functions.
• Preparing and reviewing income tax returns and tax provisions.

Deloitte New Zealand's Tax team is widely regarded as experts and leaders in their field. We are looking for a Tax Senior Consultant to join our successful Tauranga-based team. You will advise a portfolio of clients ranging in size, on some of the most stimulating SME and Corporate tax issues, and in the process further develop both your technical and management skills. Job Description

The impact you'll make:

As a Senior Consultant you will be responsible for contributing to and/or managing a portfolio of clients ranging in size and covering a broad range of corporate tax issues. You will demonstrate and develop your capabilities in the following areas:

• Advising on a wide range of business tax matters from tax compliance to tax planning. Our tax team provides you with opportunity to grow your generalist tax knowledge together with the ability to focus/ further develop any areas of specialist interest you may have including employment taxes, GST, etc.
• Helping clients to identify, manage and mitigate tax risk, meet compliance obligations and statutory deadlines, resolve tax disputes and realise business goals.
• Influencing clients and the team positively, leading by example and establishing confident relationships with senior people.
• Applying knowledge of current and pending tax legislation's and understanding interaction across global tax functions, specifically in your areas of expertise.
• Fact based decision making by using the appropriate research techniques and skills
• Improving work efficiency, effectiveness and client service by using common technology tools.
• Helping clients mitigate risk, meet compliance obligations and statutory deadlines, and realize business goals
• Preparing and reviewing income tax returns and tax provisions

Qualifications

Your expertise:

• 3 - 6 years experience in a professional services or corporate tax environment
• A professional qualification in law or accounting
• A strong understanding of end to end tax processes & the NZ tax environment
• Experience in any specialist areas of tax would be beneficial (but not essential)

New Zealand tax experience is essential for this role.
