Job summary

The Centre for Family Violence and Sexual Violence, hosted by the Ministry of Justice in Wellington, seeks a dedicated communications specialist to lead strategic communications and day-to-day advisory work. You will shape framing across reports, cross-government communications, and ministerial talking points.

You will provide strategic guidance to senior leaders, develop clear content for multiple audiences, and mentor colleagues while building strong stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications

• Significant communications and media advisory experience.
• Experience providing strategic advice to senior leaders.
• Ability to craft compelling content and narratives for diverse audiences.
• Ability to build credibility and influence across agencies.
• Ability to navigate complex, high-profile issues with sound judgement.
• Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and public service values.

Responsibilities

• Lead communications planning for the Centre to support a multi-agency programme.
• Support a whole-of-government approach to communications in the portfolio.
• Develop clear, compelling content for reports, cross-government comms, and ministerial talking points.
• Coach and mentor colleagues to lift communications capability.
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including Ministerial offices and agencies.
