Job summary

HEB Construction is seeking a Commercial Manager for the Waikare Gorge Realignment Project near Napier, NZ. You will lead the commercial function from award to completion, provide expert advice to project leadership, and manage contract administration, risk, and variations to ensure robust financial performance.

Collaborate with delivery teams and clients, drive procurement strategies, and champion health, safety and wellbeing across the project lifecycle in a dynamic infrastructure environment.

Qualifications

• Significant commercial management experience within civil construction, infrastructure, engineering, or major projects valued at $50,000,000+.
• Strong contract administration, negotiations and risk management skills.
• Experience managing project budgets, forecasting and financial performance.
• Knowledge of procurement, project controls and contract management processes.
• Excellent stakeholder management and ability to influence outcomes in complex projects.
• Collaborative approach, commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Leading the commercial function across the project from contract award through to completion
• Providing commercial advice and support to project leadership teams
• Managing contract administration, commercial risk, and contractual compliance
• Reviewing and negotiating subcontractor and supplier agreements
• Supporting procurement strategies and commercial negotiations
• Managing project reporting, forecasting, cost control, and financial performance
• Preparing and managing variations, claims, and commercial correspondence
• Driving best practice project controls and continuous improvement initiatives
• Championing HEB's commitment to Health, Safety and Wellbeing through active leadership and engagement
