Job summary

Pinnacles Civil is expanding across New Zealand and seeks a senior civil engineer to lead the delivery of transportation and infrastructure projects from concept through to completion.

Based in Hamilton, you will manage multiple stakeholders, provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers and ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to a high standard.

Qualifications

• 8+ years experience in civil engineering or project management in consultancy.
• Civil Engineering qualification; CPEng is a bonus.
• Experience delivering transportation, roading, land development or three waters.
• Proven ability managing projects from inception through to completion.
• Strong communication with clients, contractors and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver transportation and civil engineering design projects.
• Manage projects from planning to completion, including programmes and contracts.
• Build and maintain client relationships and support future opportunities.
• Mentor junior engineers.

About the role:

This is a senior, hands‑on position where you'll lead the delivery of transportation and civil infrastructure projects from concept through to completion.

Coming from a consultancy background, you'll be comfortable managing multiple stakeholders, providing technical leadership and ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget and to a high standard. Experience with road maintenance projects will be highly regarded, as this forms an important part of our workload.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering transportation and civil engineering design projects.


• Managing projects from planning through to completion, including programmes, contracts and client relationships.


• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients while supporting future business opportunities.


• Mentoring and developing junior engineers across the business.


• Ensuring quality outcomes while maintaining a strong commitment to health and safety.

About You:

You're an experienced engineering professional who enjoys building strong client relationships just as much as delivering quality technical outcomes. You thrive in a consultancy environment, understand the importance of collaboration, and take pride in delivering practical solutions for your clients.

You will ideally bring:

• 8 or more years experience in civil engineering or project management within a consultancy environment.


• A Civil Engineering qualification —CPEng accreditation is a definite bonus.


• Experience delivering transportation, roading, land development or three waters projects.


• Previous involvement in road maintenance projects.


• Proven experience managing projects from inception through to completion.


• Strong communication skills with the ability to confidently engage clients, contractors and internal teams.
