Job summary

Crowne Plaza Christchurch in the heart of downtown Christchurch invites a Senior Chef de Partie to join its Kitchen team. You will support day-to-day operations, prepare and present dishes to a high standard, and contribute to menu development under the guidance of senior chefs.

Qualifications

• At least 3+ years’ experience as a Chef de Partie.
• Hotel experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of a la carte and banquet service with modern and classical techniques.
• Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and HACCP requirements.
• Problem solving, reasoning and training abilities.
• Excellent organisation and time management, with attention to detail.
• Professional, reliable and passionate about hospitality; flexible roster include evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Basic understanding of food and labour costing; willing to develop commercial acumen.
• Ability to interact with customers, employees and third parties.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, ensuring consistency, quality and efficiency across all outlets and events.
• Prepare, cook and present dishes to the highest standard with consistency in quality, portioning and presentation.
• Assist with breakfast buffet, functions and events preparation.
• Support and contribute to a positive team culture; train and coach chefs and kitchen staff.
• Contribute to menu development and guest satisfaction with new dishes and specials.
• Manage your section during service, ensuring smooth operations, stock rotation and portion control.
• Maintain high standards of organisation, minimise waste and assist with ordering to achieve food costs.
• Work in a safe and clean environment in accordance with HACCP.
