Job summary

Auckland Council's Field Surveying team in Manukau seeks an experienced Building Surveyor/Inspector to own and manage inspections across the coverage area. You will travel regionally, receive training, and exercise autonomy to ensure safe, compliant outcomes for builders, homeowners, architects, and developers.

The role requires knowledge of the Building Act and Code, strong communication, and a customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Building Control Surveying or equivalent (IANZ accepted).
• At least 5 years cumulative experience in a building-related environment.
• Strong knowledge of the Building Act, Building Code, and structural integrity concepts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to interact with stakeholders.
• Full, clean NZ Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Inspect building work to ensure compliance with building consents, codes, and policy.
• Provide accurate and timely advice to increase customer understanding of the Building Code and processes.
• Maintain accurate, robust records of inspections and decisions.
