GHD in New Zealand is seeking a Senior Aviation Engineer to join our aviation team across Auckland, Christchurch or Hamilton. You will lead the technical delivery of aviation projects, mentor colleagues, and help build a sustainable work pipeline aligned with the business plan.

You will establish strong client relationships, work with multidisciplinary teams and support business development while delivering high‑quality outcomes in a collaborative, hybrid environment.

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Aviation Engineer to become an integral member of our Aviation team. This role can be based in Auckland, Christchurch, or Hamilton.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Provide senior technical input and leadership to the Aviation team, contributing to the delivery of high‑quality project outcomes
• Support, coach, and advise team members in project delivery activities, and contribute to mentoring to enhance professional development
• Contribute to building GHD’s profile in the aviation sector and support the development of a sustainable work pipeline aligned with the business plan
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, industry networks, and key stakeholders
• Collaborate closely with internal teams and service lines to deliver integrated solutions
• Support business development activities, including identifying and pursuing strategic opportunities
• Assist in identifying emerging markets, services, and opportunities, and contribute to strategies to secure future work

What you will bring to the team:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• 10 to 15 years’ experience in the Aviation / Airport Engineering consultancy sector
• Proven experience contributing to or leading the technical delivery of aviation projects
• Formal qualifications in a relevant engineering or science discipline
• Strong commercial awareness, with an understanding of both internal and external drivers
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
• A collaborative, team‑focused approach with a willingness to share knowledge and support others
