Job summary

Westpac New Zealand in Auckland is seeking an experienced Quality Engineering leader to design, develop, maintain and execute automation and functional test solutions. This automation-led role requires hands-on experience building maintainable test frameworks and guiding a QA community to meet regulatory and business needs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Quality Engineering or Testing.
• Experience defining and implementing quality best practices.
• Experience coaching and providing reviews.
• Strong hands-on automation incl. framework design and CI/CD integration.
• API testing, data testing and automated validation.
• Strong SQL skills for data validation and ETL testing.
• Risk-based test design and end-to-end traceability.
• Experience with XML/XPath for test design and automation.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on scripting in TypeScript, JavaScript and Python.
• Experience automated UI, API, integration and data-layer testing.
• Knowledge of ISO payment message types and data validation.
• NetReveal domain knowledge and testing experience.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead test strategies, quality standards and release criteria.
• Plan and execute functional, integration, regression, performance and UAT testing.
• Review requirements and designs to ensure testability and quality.
• Provide quality leadership during design, delivery and release activities.
• Oversee test delivery and proactively manage quality risks.
• Coach and mentor team members on quality practices and automation.
• Share knowledge and best practices within the Quality Engineering community.
• Validate AML/CRA/Transaction Monitoring changes and regulatory reporting.
• Design, develop and maintain automated test frameworks across UI, API, integration and data layers.
• Lead defect triage and remediation validation.
• Drive CI/CD integration and fast feedback through gates.
