Fluid Recruitment is assisting a mid-sized specialist firm in Wellington CBD to find a Senior Associate / Special Counsel with a strong transactional practice, including significant M&A work. The role offers autonomy, leadership of junior lawyers, and a clear pathway toward Partnership.

Ideal candidates are senior and capable of immediate contribution, with a broad corporate and commercial background and a proven track record in managing complex client relationships.

This is a Senior Associate / Special Counsel opportunity with a mid-sized specialist firm in Wellington CBD. The firm has a strong and well-established presence in the market, an excellent client base and a reputation for delivering high-quality work.

They're now looking for someone experienced enough to step into the team and make an immediate contribution, but ambitious enough to want to keep building from there.

About the work:

You’ll work across a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, with M&A forming a significant part of the practice.

The wider work includes advising on company and shareholder matters, governance, business restructures and a range of complex commercial transactions. You’ll be working with interesting clients on high-end work, with the autonomy and trust that comes with operating at this level.

There is also leadership opportunity working with the firms more junior lawyers, sharing knowledge and helping others develop their capability.

There is a clear pathway towards Partnership for the right person. The firm is open-minded about what that looks like and is interested in someone who wants to build further with them.

They’re also open to hearing from Partner-level lawyers who may be considering a lateral move and want a different environment.

Requirements:

This firm is looking for someone who is already operating at a senior level and brings:

• Strong M&A and broader transactional experience
• A solid corporate and commercial legal background
• The confidence to take ownership of complex matters and client relationships
• An interest in developing and supporting junior lawyers
