Beca is seeking a Senior Artificial Intelligence Developer to design and deliver AI-powered tools for engineering and technical teams in Auckland. This hands-on role builds production-ready software and AI agents, collaborating with business users and data teams to turn high‑value use cases into scalable solutions.

The role covers document intelligence, automation, computer vision, and compliance, using Python, C#, LangChain, Foundry, and Copilot Studio in an agile, multi‑project setting.

We are seeking a Senior Artificial Intelligence Developer with strong experience in agentic AI and software engineering to design and deliver AI-powered tools for engineering and technical teams at Beca. This hands‑on role involves building production‑ready software and developing AI agents, working closely with business users and data teams to turn high‑value use cases into scalable solutions.

You’ll address diverse challenges in document intelligence, automation, computer vision, and compliance, using technologies like Python, C#, LangChain, Microsoft Foundry, and Copilot Studio. The role requires end‑to‑end solution engineering in an agile, multi‑project environment, and the ability to communicate complex AI concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Through this work, you’ll help build and mature Beca’s applied AI capability, while establishing yourself as a well‑rounded AI practitioner with deep expertise in Agentic AI solution delivery, contributing to responsible, real‑world solutions across our business.

You bring around 5–7 years of experience across both artificial intelligence and software development, giving you a strong foundation to design and deliver end‑to‑end AI solutions. You enjoy applying your AI skills to practical engineering and technical problems, and are motivated by delivering reliable, real‑world outcomes across areas such as document intelligence, automation, reporting, and compliance support.

You have experience contributing to AI solutions from early experimentation through to deployment and continuous improvement, and are confident bridging the gap between data science and software engineering. You enjoy building systems from first principles rather than relying solely on pre‑configured tools, and are comfortable developing AI‑enabled applications that are robust, maintainable, and production‑ready using the appropriate toolkit. You’re increasingly confident taking ownership of larger components or end‑to‑end delivery of solutions.

You bring a consulting mindset — collaborative, curious, and outcome‑focused. You work effectively with business users, technical specialists, and stakeholders, helping translate requirements into practical AI solutions and iterating based on feedback. You communicate clearly and are developing confidence in explaining both machine learning concepts and engineering decisions to non‑technical audiences, supporting adoption and trust in new tools across teams.

Your background includes hands‑on experience with applied AI techniques such as LLM application development, prompt engineering, structured outputs, and document parsing, and multi‑agent orchestration. This is complemented by strong programming capability and software engineering practices, including version control, testing, cloud environments, and CI/CD.

Exposure Or Experience In The Following Are Highly Desirable

• Azure Cloud, in particular MS Foundry, Azure ML Studio
• Microsoft AI stacks: Copilot Agents, Foundry Agents, Microsoft Agent Framework
• Experience in C# based software development, design or architecture
