Job summary

Ag Assist is seeking arborists to care for trees and shrubs across Canterbury. You will assess health, plan maintenance, and perform climbing and rigging tasks while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

You will maintain records, communicate with clients and stakeholders, and pursue ongoing education to stay updated on industry standards. This role covers Mid Canterbury and Selwyn areas, with a focus on health, safety, and aesthetic outcomes.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to assess tree health, structure and risk.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing tree care plans.
• Proficient in performing tree climbing, rigging and aerial work with safety.
• Accurate record keeping of assessments and works using digital tools or databases.
• Commitment to ongoing learning through training and certifications.
• Adherence to safety protocols, PPE and regulatory requirements.
• Strong communication with clients and stakeholders to resolve concerns.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough evaluations of tree health, structure, and condition through visual inspections, diagnostic tests, and risk assessments.
• Develop and implement comprehensive tree care plans, including pruning, trimming, shaping, rigging, and fertilization, to promote growth, health, and safety.
• Utilize specialized equipment and techniques to perform tree climbing, rigging, and aerial work for maintenance tasks at various heights, minimizing impact on tree health.
• Maintain accurate records of assessments, maintenance activities, client communications, and job site documentation using digital tools or databases.
• Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies by attending training programs, workshops, and seminars and obtaining relevant certifications.
• Adhere to safety protocols, regulations, and industry standards, including PPE, equipment maintenance, and environmental compliance.
• Collaborate with property owners, landscapers, managers, and agencies to address tree concerns and provide expert recommendations.
