Job summary

The Department of Internal Affairs seeks a Principal Advisor (Financial Institutions) to lead AML/CFT policy and supervision across deposit takers and other institutions in New Zealand. You will shape supervisory strategy, guide complex regulatory matters and deliver on-site inspection programmes with senior stakeholders.

You will bring deep AML/CFT expertise, strategic thinking and strong credibility with domestic and international partners, mentoring staff and influencing regulatory

Qualifications

• Significant AML/CFT experience within complex financial institutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide thought leadership and specialist AML/CFT expertise across a range of complex financial institutions.
• Drive the delivery of on-site inspection programme and supervisory approach.
• Lead priority regulatory initiatives and contribute to legislative, policy and regulatory developments.
• Mentor others and collaborate with domestic and international partners to strengthen the AML/CFT system.
• Engage with senior leaders across financial institutions and government agencies to improve regulatory outcomes.
