Job summary

Bank of New Zealand is seeking a Senior Technical Specialist to hands-on build AI-enabled products, platforms, and guardrails that make enterprise AI safe, scalable, and useful across the organisation.

You will work across AI product delivery and shared platform capability, delivering reusable components, integrations, and patterns while collaborating closely with architects, engineers, and product teams to drive practical, regulated AI adoption.

Qualifications

Hands-on engineering experience with Python and/or TypeScript in building backend services and APIs.
Experience delivering AI-powered solutions such as agents, orchestration, or LLM-backed services.
Experience building, onboarding, or operating shared technical capabilities (enterprise integrations, cloud services, gateways).
Knowledge of secure, production-ready delivery in regulated environments (observability, operability, identity, access controls).
Experience with governance and guardrails development (platform standards, policy controls, evaluation approaches).
Experience creating reusable libraries, SDKs, templates, or reference implementations.

Responsibilities

Ship AI-enabled products and APIs.
Build shared platform capability and guardrails that enable safe AI adoption across the bank.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and product teams across delivery and platform engineering.
Improve reusable engineering patterns and contribute to enterprise AI capability.
