Job summary

Woolworths Ltd. in Auckland seeks a Senior Data, AI, and ML Engineer to architect and deploy advanced models within agentic workflows and robust AI governance.

You will design clean data architectures and cloud warehousing to enable autonomous AI agents to build, test, and govern pipelines with cross-functional teams. You will lead multi-agent ecosystems, apply retrieval-augmented generation and vector embeddings, and ensure data quality, security and cost efficiency while mentoring junior

Qualifications

• Proven ability to turn business challenges into data solutions.
• Experience with GenAI production frameworks and agentic coding tools.
• End-to-end data pipelines using modern cloud ecosystems (BigQuery, Vertex AI, DBT, Airflow).
• Strong Python development and Git/CI/CD practices.
• Experience in ML frameworks and MLOps for scalable deployment.
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts (Kimball).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like GCP and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage multi-agent ecosystems and autonomous coding agents.
• Build clean, semantic data architectures for AI agents and LLMs.
• Deploy agentic testing frameworks to validate non-deterministic outputs and data quality.
• Establish AI governance and observability to monitor drift and bias.
• Implement security guardrails to protect PII and ensure auditability.
• Optimize cloud compute usage and cost for model endpoints.
• Translate business requirements into scalable data solutions with cross-functional teams.
• Mentor junior team members and conduct regular peer reviews.
