Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in Law, Ethics, Public Policy, Computer Science or related field with a focus on AI ethics and regulation.
• 5+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, or legal roles, with substantial AI/tech ethics work.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts and their ethical, societal, and legal implications.
• Familiarity with data protection regulations (e.g., POPIA) and AI-specific legislation.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across legal, product and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive AI ethics policies, guidelines, and governance frameworks.
• Conduct regular audits and risk assessments of AI systems to identify and mitigate ethical and compliance issues, including bias and fairness concerns.
• Ensure compliance with national and international regulations related to AI, data privacy, and algorithmic transparency.
• Provide expert advice and training to internal stakeholders on AI ethics, responsible AI practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with legal, product management, and engineering teams to integrate ethical considerations into the AI development lifecycle.
• Monitor industry best practices and emerging trends in AI ethics and compliance.
• Investigate and resolve ethical concerns raised by internal or external parties.
• Prepare reports and present findings on AI ethics and compliance status to senior management.
• Contribute to the development of responsible AI communication strategies.
