Job summary

Narrative seeks a Senior AI Engineer in Auckland to bridge cutting-edge AI research with production systems. You will evaluate and deploy vision foundation models, build robust data pipelines, and collaborate with product and data science to translate requirements into scalable ML features.

Strong PyTorch expertise and hands-on model optimization are ideal. You will work in a hybrid setup with face-to-face collaboration and remote work options, contributing to scalable image-processing solutions

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with PyTorch and ML tooling (HuggingFace, FAISS).
• Familiarity with vision foundation models.
• Experience in at least one systems programming language (C++, Rust, Go, etc.).
• Ability to turn research ideas into robust product features.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and integrate state-of-the-art foundation models into production systems.
• Benchmark architectures for efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Collaborate with product to define requirements and translate into model specs.
• Partner with data scientists to train, fine-tune, and evaluate models for photography use cases.
• Build data and model pipelines for large-scale image datasets.
• Ensure reproducibility and scalability of training and inference workflows.
• Support deployment of models to target environments.
• Stay updated on CV, multimodal learning, and foundation model ecosystems.
• Prototype and productionize promising approaches.
