Job summary

Re-Leased Ltd seeks a senior QA automation engineer to own the quality system for am:pm in Napier or remote from NZ. You will design automation across the test pyramid, implement AI-driven testing strategies, and help move the product toward safe, frequent releases in a small, startup-like squad within an established SaaS business.

You’ll work with a modern stack and a culture focused on customer outcomes, continuous improvement, and pragmatic, fast decision-making.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of QA experience in a SaaS product environment with automation at the centre.
• Experience in production codebases and reading code to locate and understand the surface under test.
• CI/CD fluent – understand pipeline gates, smoke checks and release signals.
• Active use of AI tools in your workflow today and opinions on where they're strong or weak.
• Genuine interest in testing AI products and non-deterministic systems.
• Strong exploratory testing instincts and sound test-pyramid judgment.
• Comfortable with ambiguity, change, and making calls with incomplete information.
• Customer-focused mindset, not just test count.

Responsibilities

• Drive quality automation across the test pyramid and steward end-to-end suite coverage.
• Support move to continuous delivery with appropriate automated quality controls.
• Use AI tooling as a first-class part of your workflow for test generation, triage and test data creation.
• Curate AI-generated tests and findings with your testing judgement.
• Shape how we test AI-powered features and advise on evals to cover edge cases.
• Coach engineers on acceptance criteria and test scenarios from a user’s perspective.
• Run exploratory and risk-based testing and feed production bugs back into automation.
• Analyse quality workflows and report signals to keep the squad informed.
