Job summary

Livestock Improvement Corporation in Awahuri, New Zealand, is seeking a hands-on scientist to join the Semen Processing Lab. You will process bull semen to meet production targets while upholding quality, compliance and export standards for LIC's international markets.

Working with a supportive team, you will perform quality control, operate SOP-driven equipment, maintain calibration, assist with SOP development, and coordinate dispatch to EU markets and LIC's Newstead facility.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to build positive working relationships with internal teams, contractors and stakeholders.
• Understanding of laboratory operations and quality standards.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel; SAP experience is an advantage.
• Tertiary qualification in science or laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality control activities to ensure products meet required standards and compliance requirements.
• Operate laboratory and analytical equipment in line with SOPs and safe operating practices.
• Carry out routine maintenance, calibration and servicing of laboratory equipment.
• Contribute to the review, development and implementation of new and existing SOPs.
• Support compliance with OAP Operational Codes, EU and GBR OMAR requirements, and WOAH regulations.
• Coordinate the dispatch of semen to EU markets and LIC's Newstead facility.
• Support procurement activities and help maintain adequate laboratory stock levels.
