Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Whangārei is seeking a Section Head Physiotherapist for either inpatient or outpatient services. The role is 0.4 FTE (16 hours per week) on a permanent part-time basis, with internal Health New Zealand applicants preferred.

You will provide clinical and operational leadership, support workforce development, and ensure quality patient care while aligning with Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and organisational goals.

Qualifications

  • Registration with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand and a current APC.
  • At least 5 years experience as a physiotherapist.
  • Able to work autonomously and harmoniously with other health professionals.
  • Clear, concise recording and reporting.
  • Use data, feedback, and evidence-informed practice to support decision-making, quality improvement, and service planning.
  • Experience in clinical leadership, staff supervision, and performance development is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and operational leadership for inpatient or outpatient physiotherapy services and support workforce development.
  • Drive continuous quality improvement and ensure high standards of patient care.
  • Manage the Inpatient or Outpatient Physiotherapy Service and support the Physiotherapy Team Lead.

Physiotherapy Department, Whangarei Hospital

2x permanent part-time positions for the Acute Inpatient and Outpatient Physiotherapy Services (0.4 FTE), working 16 hours per week. Open to internal Health New Zealand applicants only.

About the Role

As a Section Head Physiotherapist (Inpatient or Outpatient), you will providing clinical and operational leadership, supporting workforce development, ensuring high standards of patient care, driving continuous quality improvement, and contributing to the effective delivery of physiotherapy services aligned with organisational goals and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles. About you
