Job summary

Chartwells is seeking a Full-time Chef in Ormiston, QLD to prepare and deliver high-quality meals for students and events. The role leads daily kitchen operations, ensures safety and quality, and mentors junior staff in a supportive environment.

The successful candidate will have a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent), solid experience as a chef, and a strong focus on quality, presentation, and food safety. A Blue Card is required.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
• Experience as a Chef.
• Bulk cooking with emphasis on quality and presentation.
• Experience in school residential dining.
• Excellent time management, attention to detail and food safety knowledge.
• Team player able to work independently.
• Blue Card (paid) required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver fresh, high-quality meals for school students and events.
• Lead daily kitchen operations while maintaining safety and quality standards.
• Mentor and support kitchen staff, fostering a positive, service-focused culture.
• Ensure OH&S compliance and proper food handling procedures.
• Manage stock levels and orders to meet budget requirements.
• Support training and development of apprentices and junior chefs.
• Be part of a school community with work-life balance.
