Job summary

Diocesan School for Girls in Auckland seeks a hands-on Health and Safety Lead to develop, run and monitor the school's safety system, focusing on critical risks with potential for serious harm. Day to day, you will lead the Health and Safety Committee, advise the Board and staff, and manage risk across activities from EOTC to events, while fostering a culture of safety.

You will champion psychosocial wellbeing and lead preparation for the Health and Safety at Work Amendment Act 2026, ensuring

Qualifications

• Five or more years of health and safety practice with knowledge of NZ legislation.
• Experience with the reformed framework and Amendment Act 2026.
• Strong communication and stakeholder relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Health and Safety Committee and foster a safety-first culture.
• Advise the Board, Executive and staff on governance and operational safety.
• Manage risk across EOTC, camps, trips, sport, contractors and events.
• Address psychosocial hazards and promote mentally healthy work.
• Prepare for the Health and Safety at Work Amendment Act 2026 requirements.
