Job summary

Maunu School in Whāngārei is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced teacher to join our collaborative Senior Syndicate (Years 5 & 6). The role focuses on innovative learning, positive behaviour support, and strong relationships with students and whānau.

We value culturally responsive teaching, a deep understanding of the NZ Curriculum, and willingness to lead and learn in Structured Literacy and Structured Mathematics frameworks.

Qualifications

• Culturally responsive pedagogy and relationship-based teaching.
• Deep understanding of the NZ Curriculum and the Curriculum Refresh.
• Background in PB4L and trauma-informed practice.
• Experience with Structured Literacy and Structured Mathematics frameworks.
• Innovative approach to teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

• Join the collaborative Senior Syndicate (Years 5 & 6) and contribute to planning and delivery.
• Implement innovative learning strategies grounded in positive behaviour support.

• Curriculum expertise: Excellent classroom practice with a deep understanding of the NZ Curriculum and the ongoing Curriculum Refresh.
• Positive behaviour & wellbeing: Proven background in PB4L (Positive Behaviour for Learning) and an understanding of trauma-informed practice.
• Structured approaches: Experience in, or a strong willingness to learn and implement, Structured Literacy and Structured Mathematics frameworks.
