Job summary

Hikuai School in Waikato is seeking a certificated teacher to join our small, supportive team and teach the Year 3–4 class in 2027.

This is a one-year fixed-term role covering refreshment leave, with start date 25 January 2027 and end date 17 December 2027. We value strong relationships, collaboration, and engaging literacy and learning across subjects, with opportunities to lead sporting events.

Hikuai School is seeking an enthusiastic and committed teacher to join our small, supportive team and teach our Year 3–4 class in 2027.

This position provides an exciting opportunity to work in a vibrant rural school where strong relationships, collaboration and knowing our learners well are at the heart of what we do.

Hikuai School has begun working with iDEAL in 2026, and experience or a willingness to develop strong structured literacy practice would be highly valued.

An ability to contribute to our school's sporting programme and event management would also be an advantage. The current role includes responsibility for coordinating and running our school sporting events, so we are particularly interested in applicants who have strengths, experience or enthusiasm in this area.
