Job summary

ALS Environmental in Christchurch, NZ seeks a reliable Sample Receipt / Laboratory Technician to gain hands-on laboratory experience in a fast-paced, supportive environment. You will receive, process, and prepare samples for analysis while upholding high quality, safety, and operational standards.

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, you will log samples in LIMS, maintain records, and assist staff with routine tasks, ensuring compliance with QA/QC and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Secondary school qualifications with science subjects or relevant laboratory experience.
• Good computer literacy and accurate data entry skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
• The ability to work accurately under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Receiving, registering, labelling, and logging samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Preparing sample documentation and maintaining accurate laboratory records.
• Performing basic sample preparation activities, including drying, sieving, weighing, and packaging samples.
• Ensuring samples are handled, stored, and disposed of in accordance with laboratory procedures.
• Maintaining clean, organised, and safe laboratory workspaces.
• Cleaning laboratory equipment and sample preparation areas as required.
• Assisting laboratory staff with routine operational activities.
• Following quality assurance, quality control, and workplace safety procedures at all times.
