Job summary

ALS Environmental in Christchurch, NZ is seeking a reliable Sample Receipt / Laboratory Technician to join our Environmental team on a casual basis. You will receive, log, and prepare samples for analysis, ensuring accurate records and adherence to safety standards.

Daily duties include using the LIMS system, documenting samples, performing basic prep (drying, weighing, labeling), and assisting staff with routine tasks while maintaining a clean, safe workspace.

Qualifications

• Secondary school qualifications with science subjects or relevant laboratory experience.
• A basic understanding of laboratory practices.
• Good computer literacy and accurate data entry skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
• The ability to work accurately under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• A commitment to maintaining a safe and clean working environment.

Responsibilities

• Receiving, registering, labelling, and logging samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Preparing sample documentation and maintaining accurate laboratory records.

• Ensuring samples are handled, stored, and disposed of in accordance with laboratory procedures.
• Maintaining clean, organised, and safe laboratory workspaces.

• Assisting laboratory staff with routine operational activities.
• Following quality assurance, quality control, and workplace safety procedures at all times.
