Job summary

Sudima Kaikōura is seeking a friendly Room Attendant to help create welcoming spaces for guests. The role focuses on high standards of cleanliness and guest comfort, not just making beds but delivering genuine hospitality.

This part-time position (minimum 20 hours per week) offers the chance to work with a supportive team at Hind Management, with a competitive hourly rate of $24. Weekend and public holiday shifts available, with training provided.

Qualifications

• Prior housekeeping or room attendant experience preferred but not essential.
• Ability to maintain high cleanliness and presentation standards.
• Capable of performing physically demanding tasks (lifting, bending, standing).
• Courteous and professional when interacting with guests.
• Available to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Basic proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures.

• Create a warm welcome by preparing and servicing guest rooms to our high standards, including making beds, cleaning bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming and completing scheduled deep cleans.
• Make every stay memorable by replenishing linen, towels and in-room amenities, ensuring rooms are fresh and comfortable.
• Maintain a well-organised housekeeping trolley and manage cleaning supplies efficiently.
• Respond to guest requests promptly, professionally and with genuine care.
• Dispose of waste and recycling responsibly and support sustainability.

This is a part time role (minimum 20 hours per week) based at Sudima Kaikōura. We have permanent and fixed term roles available. This role pays $24 per hour.

Responsibilities Ngā Haepapa

• Create a warm welcome by preparing and servicing guest rooms to our high standards, including making beds, cleaning bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming and completing scheduled deep cleans, so every guest arrives to a space they'll love.
• Make every stay memorable by thoughtfully replenishing linen, towels and in-room amenities, ensuring every room is fresh, comfortable and ready to exceed guest expectations.
• Be the expert by maintaining a well-organised housekeeping trolley, managing cleaning supplies efficiently and taking pride in delivering consistently high standards throughout your shift.
• Share our spirit of manaakitanga by responding to guest requests promptly, professionally and with genuine care, creating positive moments that make every guest feel welcome and valued.
• Care for our environment by disposing of waste and recycling responsibly, maintaining clean and safe back-of-house areas, and supporting our commitment to sustainability.

About You | Ko Koe Tēnei

• Prior housekeeping or room attendant experience preferred but not essential
• Ability to maintain high cleanliness and presentation standards.
• Capable of performing physically demanding tasks (e.g., lifting, bending, standing for long periods).
• Courteous and professional when interacting with guests.
• Efficient in completing tasks within set timeframes.
• Works well with housekeeping and other hotel departments.
• Available to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Basic proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Basic Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures.
