Te Tāpui Atawhai Auckland City Mission is seeking a Rongoā Māori Practitioner to provide culturally grounded support across Mission sites and community settings. You will work within the Health and Connection team, delivering practices such as mirimiri, karakia, and whitiwhiti kūoro to whanau and tangata whaiora.
You will contribute to reducing health inequities, uphold Te Tiriti commitments, and engage in ongoing learning and development within a values-led environment.
The Rongo’a Māori Practitioner provides rongo’a Māori support to people and whānau across Mission sites and community settings. Working as a member of the Health and Connection multidisciplinary team, the Practitioner offers appropriate practices such as mirimiri, whitiwhiti kūoro, karakia, blessings and other tikanga-informed approaches according to their knowledge, experience and scope of practice.
The role contributes to reducing health and social inequities by supporting equitable access to services, advocating for whānau experiencing barriers to care, and ensuring engagement is culturally safe, whānau-centred and responsive to the needs and aspirations of Māori.
We value learning and growth. You will be supported on your unique journey through mentoring and on the job development as part of the wider Mission community committed to meaningful, values-led work.
Te Tāpui Atawhai Auckland City Mission is committed to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi. As a Tangata Tiriti organisation, we are working to ensure Te Ao Māori is woven throughout our organisation and that our practice is culturally safe, pro-equity and anti-racist.
Upholding Te Tiriti is a responsibility shared by all kaimahi. We welcome applicants who bring knowledge and experience in this area, and we expect everyone who joins Te Tāpui Atawhai to be willing to grow their understanding and actively contribute to giving effect to our Te Tiriti commitments through their role.
We recognize that skills, experience and knowledge can be gained in a number of ways. This may include paid or voluntary work, experience undertaken through your church, marae, iwi or whānau responsibilities, or other community roles.
Te Tāpui Atawhai Auckland City Mission works alongside people in Tāmaki Makaurau facing poverty, homelessness, hunger, and isolation.
With over 100 years of service, we deliver integrated support across housing, food, health and recovery, supporting tens of thousands of Aucklanders every year. Our work is grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi and guided by our values; Manaakitanga, Rangapū, Atawhai, and Manatika/Mana Šŀrite.
We believe in people, collective responsibility, and hope - and invite those who share our values to join us.
