Job summary

NZ Transport Agency (Waka Kotahi) seeks a Principal Advisor, Partnerships to lead strategic collaboration across road safety programmes and state-wide initiatives. You will strengthen relationships with government, councils, and commercial partners to deliver coordinated and impactful outcomes for New Zealand communities.

The role focuses on expanding NZTA’s influence beyond traditional channels, overseeing key investments and mentoring the Education and Partnerships team.

Qualifications

• Experience leading complex multi-organisation projects.
• Proven ability to influence senior leaders across diverse groups.
• Track record delivering integrated marketing, communications and education programmes.
• Experience building partnerships across government, local government, community or commercial sectors.
• Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with presentation skills.
• Fiscal acumen: managing budgets and external suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic oversight of investment in regional road safety promotion.
• Build and maintain partnerships with cross-government agencies, councils and sector stakeholders.
• Identify and develop new partnerships with commercial and corporate organisations.
• Evaluate programme performance and recommend improvements.
• Provide leadership and mentoring within Education and Partnerships team.
• Drive communications and engagement to support programme delivery.
