Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora Southern in Timaru Hospital invites applications for a Consultant Rheumatologist. The role leads rheumatology services within the region, providing specialist assessment, diagnosis and ongoing management for a wide range of rheumatological conditions.

You will collaborate with General Physicians and other specialists, run scheduled outpatient clinics, and liaise with primary care across the district to ensure informed consent and best patient outcomes.

Responsabilités

• Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of patients with a wide range of rheumatological conditions.
• Liaise with General Physicians and other medical specialists caring for acute inpatients with rheumatological disorders.
• Conduct scheduled outpatient clinics efficiently and in accordance with service standards.
• Build a rapport with patients and ensure informed consent by discussing treatment options, expected outcomes and potential risks.
• Work closely with primary care across the district including GPs and CNSs who are integral members of the service delivery team.
