Timaru Hospital in the South Canterbury region is recruiting a Consultant Rheumatologist to lead the rheumatology service within the Medicine Department. Located mid-way between Christchurch and Dunedin, Timaru offers a community-focused setting with access to outdoor recreation and a supportive clinical team.

You will assess and manage a wide range of rheumatologic conditions, work with GPs and other specialists, run outpatient clinics, and contribute to inpatient care with flexible rostering

Responsabilités

• Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of patients with a wide range of rheumatological conditions.
• Liaise with General Physicians and other medical specialists caring for acute inpatients with rheumatological disorders.
• Conduct scheduled outpatient clinics efficiently and in accordance with service standards.
• Build a rapport with patients and ensure informed consent is obtained by discussing treatment options, expected outcomes and potential risks.
• Work closely with primary care across the district including GPs and CNSs who are integral members of the service delivery team
