Job summary

Employer Sponsored Jobs seeks an experienced Restaurant Manager to take ownership of front-of-house operations at a Christchurch venue. Qualifications

  • 2+ years' experience in Restaurant Manager or comparable hospitality leadership role
  • Ability to lead and manage a hospitality team
  • Strong understanding of fast-paced, high-volume restaurant operations
  • Proven customer service and team leadership capabilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional and mature approach to staff management
  • Strong understanding of hospitality procedures and service standards
  • Knowledge of liquor service and licensing compliance
  • Ability to manage guest flow and competing operational priorities
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to remain calm and effective during busy service periods
  • Willingness to learn venue-specific products, systems and standards
  • Flexible availability for evenings, weekends and peak trading periods
  • Commit to a minimum of 30 hours per week across 5 days

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for daily front-of-house operations
  • Lead, coach and develop local and international hospitality team members
  • Set clear expectations and maintain consistent service standards
  • Train staff on procedures, customer service and venue expectations
  • Oversee opening and closing procedures
  • Manage accurate cash-up and end-of-shift processes
  • Coordinate reservations and booking procedures
  • Control guest flow during busy periods
  • Assist with staff rostering and workforce planning
  • Communicate openly and effectively with senior management
  • Monitor service performance and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Build strong customer relationships and encourage repeat business
  • Support initiatives to improve revenue and operational performance
  • Maintain a professional and positive team culture
  • Ensure compliance with liquor licensing requirements and regulations
  • Maintain consistent standards across service and guest interactions
  • Respond confidently to operational challenges and resolve issues efficiently
  • Work collaboratively with management to achieve business objectives
