Job summary

Rolleston Sam Singh Farming Ltd in Christchurch, NZ is seeking an Assistant Manager for our restaurant. You must be skilled, hardworking, and able to work in high pressure environments.

This is a full-time role with a minimum of 30 hours per week, offering NZD 25–28 per hour depending on experience. Responsibilities include ensuring prompt service, handling inquiries, scheduling staff, interviewing and training, inventory, pricing, and maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of experience or Level 4+ qualification in Business/commerce/management/sales/Arts or relevant field.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Clear and confident communicator.
• Calm and efficient under pressure.
• Ministry of Justice check and pre-employed drug test required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure customers receive prompt service and quality goods and services.
• Respond to customer inquiries and complaints about goods and services.
• Plan and prepare work schedules and assign staff to duties.
• Interview, hire, train, evaluate, dismiss and promote staff.
• Resolve staff grievances.
• Instruct staff on handling difficult sales procedures.
• Examine returned goods and decide on action.
• Take inventory and order stock.
• Ensure pricing and display of goods and services; enforce safety procedures.
