Job summary

Auckland Council is seeking a Resource Consents Team Leader in Henderson. The role leads a team of planners, drives decisions on resource consents and contributes to operational management while maintaining flexible working arrangements.

Ideal candidates have leadership experience, strong RMA/AUP knowledge and a track record in urban planning. A full NZ driver’s license is required, with the organization offering KiwiSaver and a flexible environment.

Qualifications

• Two years’ leadership experience or more.
• Strong technical knowledge of the RMA and the AUP.
• Eight years+ experience in urban planning/resource management.
• Valid full NZ driver’s license.

• Review and decide on resource consents under delegation.
• Be involved in the Unit’s operational management and decision making.
• Provide excellent customer service and support for planning processes.

Resource Consents Team Leader - Henderson

• Resource Consents Team Leader (Henderson)
• Hybrid role in a flexible working environment
• Salary range - $123,000 to $144,000 plus KiwiSaver contribution

Rare and exciting opportunity to lead, manage and coach a team of planners to develop professionally and achieve their KPIs, whilst delivering good customer service and high-quality environmental and urban development outcomes. Review and make decisions on resource consents under delegation and be involved in the Unit’s operational management and decision making. Working primarily in the office is expected but flexible working arrangements are available.

Ideally, you will have at least two years’ leadership experience but might be a Senior Planner ready to take your next step. You will demonstrate leadership capabilities, have strong technical and working knowledge of the RMA and AUP, awareness of proposed legislative changes, and excellent written/verbal communication and problem-solving skills. You will have at least 8 years’ experience in the urban planning/resource management field and hold a relevant tertiary qualification preferably acknowledged by NZPI. A valid full NZ driver’s license is required to use Council vehicles.
