Job summary

OceanaGold is seeking an experienced Underground Mining Engineer for a residential role in Waihi, NZ. The Senior Mining Engineer will lead mine planning and manage a small team of engineers, focusing on development designs, production planning, and short-term scheduling.

The role involves close collaboration with Geotechnical, survey and operations teams to ensure safe, efficient execution of weekly and monthly mine plans; requires a degree in Mining Engineering and 4+ years post-graduate

Qualifications

recognised degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
Full and Current Driver Licence; manual driving preferred.
Minimum of 4 years post graduate experience in mining engineering.

Responsibilities

Oversee development of short term mine plans aligned with production targets and monthly plans.
Ensure preparation and review of stope designs, drill-and-blast plans, and other technical documents.
Monitor plan compliance and adapt schedules for operational conditions.
Apply Deswik skills to create and review mine designs and schedules.
Support weekly and monthly plan delivery by coordinating with operations to resolve execution challenges.
Assist in contingencies to maintain production when activities are delayed.
Provide coaching to the team to build knowledge and succession plans.
