Replenishment Warehouse Assistant - Evening Shift

Our Christchurch warehouse team plays a critical role in making this happen. As a Replenishment Warehouse Assistant working our evening shift, you’ll primarily focus on replenishing stock efficiently and accurately to meet customer demand. You’ll be operating forklifts, moving stock from overflow areas, and ensuring inventory is managed following FIFO and FEFO principles. Part of this role will also include occasionally driving our delivery truck to the store and back (No Class 2 required).
This is a full-time permanent position based at our Islington, Christchurch warehouse, working Monday to Friday from 3pm to 11.30pm.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate forklifts and Bendi safely and efficiently to replenish stock.
- Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and FEFO (First-Expiry, First-Out) principles when managing inventory.
- Move stock from overflow locations to primary pick locations in a timely manner.
- Consolidate pallets and optimise warehouse space usage.
- Maintain high levels of accuracy during replenishment to minimise errors and reduce stock discrepancies.
- Assist with running replenishment reports and act on stock requirements to ensure daily customer orders are fulfilled.
- Identify and address insufficient stock levels impacting order fulfilment.
- Assist with retail store replenishment delivery
Order Picking and Fulfilment Support (When Required)
- Assist the Outwards team by topping up cartons and fulfilling partially picked orders when needed.
- Support inbound carryover by efficiently replenishing shelves and putting away pallets to designated overflow areas.
- Help pick the replenishment order for the retail store with a high level of accuracy on a daily basis
- Drive and deliver the store order
Health & Safety
- Follow all health and safety policies and procedures, including the correct use of PPE.
- Operate forklifts and other equipment in line with company and legal safety standards.
- Report any hazards, near misses, or incidents immediately.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment at all times.
Team Contribution
- Work collaboratively with the wider Christchurch warehouse team, including Inbound, Inventory, and Outwards teams.
- Step in and support other areas (including picking, packing, or general warehouse duties) when required.
- Contribute positively to team meetings, safety briefings, and Petdirect’s company culture.

Mandatory Requirements
- Current Forklift Operator Certificate (OSH).
- F Endorsement (essential for operating forklifts on public roads or crossings).
- Full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence.
- Reach truck and hoist experience.
- Ability to safely lift up to 25kg repeatedly.
Experience & Skills
- Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, especially in replenishment, picking, or packing (preferred).
- 2+ years experience in similar environment is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues quickly.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to meeting shift requirements.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Flexible and adaptable to different tasks and priorities.
- Positive, proactive team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Demonstrated use of initiative and common sense in day-to-day tasks.
- Flexible to work in a seven-day-a-week business and adaptable to shift changes if needed.
- Previous leadership experience - Not essential but is a bonus
