Job summary

Pet.Kiwi is a locally owned, rescue-focused pet supplies store. We offer a friendly, supportive small-team environment with opportunities to learn about pet products, social media and content marketing.

This permanent part-time role involves 16–18 hours per week, including weekend work, with potential to pick up additional hours as Pet.Kiwi grows. You will be on the shop floor supporting customers, processing sales and helping maintain an inviting store space.

Qualifications

• Experience in a retail environment is essential.
• Must be friendly, approachable and confident talking with customers.
• Experience with animals and a love of them is a must (as shown in CV/Cover Letter).
• Eligible to work in New Zealand.

• Operating our POS system accurately and efficiently
• Processing and packing online orders

• Creating engaging graphics and promotional material using Canva or similar

Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

This is a hands‑on retail role where great customer service comes first. You'll spend much of your time on the shop floor helping customers, learning about our products, processing sales, receiving and merchandising stock, packing online orders and helping keep the store clean, organised and welcoming. You'll be part of a small team, so being a genuine team player is really important. We need people who communicate, support each other and are prepared to pitch in when something needs doing. Each position will be approximately 16–18 hours per week and will include one day of work each weekend, alongside a days during the week. We also have a 30 hr a week role available.

Key responsibilities

Providing friendly, knowledgeable and helpful customer service

Helping customers with product advice and purchases

Actively promoting products and identifying opportunities to increase sales

Operating our POS system accurately and efficiently

Processing and packing online orders

Receiving, unpacking, pricing and putting away stock

Keeping shelves stocked, fresh and looking great

Assisting with merchandising, displays, promotions and stocktakes

Creating engaging graphics and promotional material using Canva or similar

Helping create content for Pet.Kiwi's social media channels

About you

Importantly you must have experience with animals, and a love of them. This is a non‑negotiable, and MUST be shown in your CV/Cover Letter

Be friendly, approachable and confident talking with customers

Be reliable, punctual and someone your teammates can count on

Have a positive attitude and be willing to pitch in

Be able to work independently and use your initiative

Be comfortable learning about pet products and giving customers helpful advice. We are looking for someone who loves animals!

Understand social media and what makes content engaging

Have good written communication skills

Must be eligible to work in New Zealand

Need to be available during the week as well as the weekend.
